We are excited to announce that after pondering Ezekiel chapters thirty-eight and thirty-nine for over thirty years we are now ready to deal with these two complex chapters. Personal Note: I can recall the year 1979 when Russia (Soviet Union) invaded Afghanistan; it began on December 24th of that year. The churches went wild, it seemed everywhere I went and in most of the congregations the talk and the sermons were on Ezekiel chapters thirty-eight and thirty-nine! The television evangelists got in on the action as well. I recall many so-called "Christian" broadcasts showing newsreels of Soviet army personnel in training and these ministers would tell their audiences "these are the very soldiers that we are going to be fighting against in the land of Israel and God will destroy 5/6 of the total population of Russia." On and on they went with a relentless barrage of how the Soviet military was instigating the "Gog-Magog War" as they put it. Sadly many of the people I, as a babe in Christ, was associated with back then have not spiritually matured much in over thirty years. They are locked in to the traditions of men and the poisonous venom spewed forth from the many prideful seminaries as if they themselves are the gods of Ezekiel, and as such thus writing their own prophecies! And yes folks, they are still teaching this today. They could not wait one week to begin their crusade and regardless of whether they understood anything in these two chapters really made no difference to them, many wanted to be the FIRST with this holy news up-date.
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint," Isaiah 40:31.
As we study these two chapters together there will be passages that we will not understand fully (if at all in some cases), but be assured we will not attempt to build a case that is really not there, as many in the church do - God forbid!
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD," Jeremiah 23:16.
